YOGA TEACHERS with HEART.....
Western Yoga College was founded by Scott Miller. After conducting Hatha Yoga Teacher Training programs for six years at a studio he created in Riverside, CA the Teacher Training Program is now available at studios throughout Southern California. The Primary Teachers
of the program are Scott Miller, RYT and Kathy Bolte, RYT. Their combined experience guarantees students an exceptional and unique curriculum.
Western Yoga College is registered with Yoga Alliance. Graduation from our program
translates directly to its 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher registration.
Nationally recognized . . . this program is distinguished by its broad yogic scope.
No other single school traces its roots back to all four of the main Hatha Yoga teachings.
After running the first studio to offer daily classes taught by high level practitioners of
Ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Kundalini Yoga, Scott is bringing that broad awareness more exclusively to this Teacher Training Program. Because Scott has studied directly with Ashtanga master Pattabhi Jois, Iyengar master Lisa Walford, Yin Yoga master Paul Grilley and Kundalini master Harijivan, Western Yoga College students are in turn exposed to the hatha yogic philosophies and methodologies that have shaped the American yoga world over the last thirty years. Without compromising the integrity of any of the four individual styles, Scott positions our program to help a broad range of teacher trainees find their own way of instructing yoga.
Kathy Bolte began her yoga practice forty years ago when she was just 16 years old.
By herself, from a book, alone in her bedroom she practiced asana, pranyama, meditation and chant. Even at that tender age, and without benefit of a teacher, her practice continually deepened and elicited profound change. After years of practicing on her own she sought to practice with others and expanded her practice under the watchful eye of a variety of teachers. In 2001 she began studying with Scott Miller and through his mentoring became a devotee of two opposing practices - ashtanga and yin yoga. Kathy is a massage therapist and energy therapist as well as being a yoga teacher. She specializes in techniques that honor the alignment of the energetic body with the physical body. She brings her years of knowledge of the human body to the yoga mat to help students optimize their yogic experiences.
Scott and Kathy are members & co-founders of the popular Southern California "Yoga Das 108 Peace Kirtan Band". They offer kirtan as another way for yoga students to expand their practice through Sacred Chant and include this as a part of the WYC Teacher Training curriculum.
Guided by Scott and Kathy, trainees can explore what it is that serves them best on a
yogic level. The start of that process is finding out what teacher trainees love most
about yoga.
The love, then, becomes what we teach. Students who will become yoga teachers AND
anyone serious about their practice can benefit from the course. Most people who
have graduated consider this time to be the most transformational experience of their life.
